I missed this one. So sorry to hear of young Doris’s passing, what a great loss to his family and friends. Steve was my driver in 3 Tp CYCLOPS for 2 years and was brilliant. What a character though, always up to mischief and getting away with it mostly. I remember on a local exercise in the Wolfenbuttel area we were laid up in some barns and he fell asleep on guard. I gave him a quick ‘slap’ and that was that until SSgt John Horton heard about it and berated me saying that was his job. Steve thanked me as no one wanted a ‘slap’ from John! He always had fancy cars of which I was envious and I never worked out how he could afford them. Rest in peace Steve.
Are time was short together in 3 troop Cyclops in Woofers, but they were some of the most joyous and memorable 😀 RIP Steve, see you on the other side for a beer in the Tankies Tavern mate 🍺 👍

80 we ended up back in Catterick together to do our gunnery course and become full trades men. Don’t remember the course, but the weekends lol
